From the 1950's this is a 3ply Gretsch Round Badge Cadillac Green Nitron 4pc Drum Kit! This is the holly grail of drum sets made by Gretsch. I was told only 7 of these kits were ever made, with the 24k gold platted hardware. The Jazz Club Birdland in New York owned the rights to the look. And Louis Bellson helped come up with the color, to match his Cadillac. This drum set sounds unbelievable. The sizes are kinda odd. We think that it was mixed up with another kit. Steve Maxwell did say he has the 16X16" floor tom for sale.
The sizes are 14X22" 14X14" 9X13" And a 4X14" Max Roach Snare. The gold platted hardware is pretty worn off. You can still see it on the outside of the lugs and hoops. But the insides of the lugs are like new, with a lot off platting still there. The Green Nitron finish is flaking off in spots. Mostly on the floor tom and kick drum. As seen in the pics.
14X22" The drum is mostly original with just a few nuts and bolts on the rail mount not being original. The Green Nitron finish is chipped and cracked, mostly on the bottom side of the kick. And some on the hoops. The gold inlays are all there and in great shape. One of the thumb screw on the spur brackets is is missing a one of its wings. And the cymbal arm is just a few random part we put together. So is not original to the kit.
14X14" This drum is mostly original. The badge is a 60's and is not original to the drum. All the other parts are there. Besides all the rubber feet. The 3ply shell is in great shape. Bearing edges are good. The finish on this drum is the worst of all. As you can see in the pics. This drum has the die cast style hoops on it. Not the stick chopper like the 13" tom has.
9X13" This drums badge is also not original. The snare and kick drum badges are og but the two toms are not. This drum has the 3ply shell. Edges are in great shape. There is just minor chips in the nitron finish. The stick chopper hoops are not bent up. The diamond clip mount is stretched out but still clips to the rail nicely. One of the Pratt control knobs is chrome and from the 60's.
4X14" This is the rarest of rare drums. One of the first runs of the 4X14 Max Roach Snares. This drum is mostly all original besides the heads, wires and one small part of the adjustable butt. Its a chrome 60's piece.
